Letter to Club Chairpersons
Dear Chairperson,
Re: Application
of Subcommittee (May-Oct10)
I
am delighted to announce that the Hong Kong Joint School Astronomical
Society (HKJSAS) Subcommittees of the next half-year session (May-Oct
2010) are open for application. JSAS is a joint school non-profit making
organization with 20 current member schools. To organize better activities,
the society calls for the assistance of talented and enthusiastic students.
Therefore, I sincerely invite students from your school to join us.
Within
the session, two major activities will be held, namely the Hong Kong
Secondary School Astronomy Competition 2010 (HKSSAC) and Joint School
Astronomy Summer Camp 2010 (JSASC). Subcommittee members will be mainly
responsible to help organize these two activities.
After
nominated as the subcommittee member of JSAS, students may freely choose
to join one of the following departments according to their interest:
Promotion Department: be responsible for designing the souvenir as well as the publications
of the Society and promote the coming activities through internet
Program Department: be responsible for organizing games and activities of the Joint School
Astronomy Summer Camp 2010
Information Department: be responsible for the academic projects run by the Society, including
the HKSSAC.
Coordination Department: be responsible for all coordination of the Society with external News
Media, member schools and non-member schools
While
a certificate will be rewarded at the end of the society session to
thank for subcommittee members’ contributions to the Society, there
are a myriad of other benefits being a subcommittee member of JSAS.
To name a few, one may:
- Gain experience
in organizing activities;
- Learn to cooperate
with people with a diverse background;
- Acquire knowledge
of astronomy and astrophysics;
- Meet new friends
and enjoy the invaluable experience; and
- Have fun!
Anyone
who is currently a S.3-6 student is eligible for applying. Although
a special talent is not a must, we especially look for students who
show any of the following qualities:
- Enthusiastic and
eager to learn;
- Interested in Astronomy
or Astrophysics;
- Good at organising mass games and camps;
- Expert at Visual
Arts or multimedia Production;
- Experienced in making
and maintaining websites
To
apply, one may sign up his/her name online at www.jsas.org.hk/. Applicants are required to attend
a short interview after the CENCO meeting.
We
warmly welcome you and your schoolmates to join us. Should there be
any inquiry, please feel free to contact Carlton Wong, the chairman
at 9080 9254, or contact us via hkjsas@gmail.com. Thank you.
Yours faithfully,
